About the Club About the Club Dalhousie Yacht Club is a friendly group, with varied boating interests for both power and sail. We support an active cruising and sail racing culture, and a summer Learn to Sail programme. The clubhouse with its excellent restaurant has a memorable view of Lake Ontario sunsets. Visitors are usually assured space, being accommodated in either member's vacant slips, or on the wall in front of the club. Facilities for members and visitors include gas and diesel service, pump out, mast crane, dry sail crane, winter storage, electricity and water.

Port Dalhousie was the northern terminus of the first three Welland Canals. (The fourth canal moved the terminus a few miles east to Port Weller). Our main docks begin just downstream of the stonework of the Lock one of the second canal. These docks exit onto the main street of Port Dalhousie which offers an array of shops and restaurants. It was on January 8th, 1937 that Frank Cornelius, Beverly Renshaw, Harold Gutteridge, Jules Dugas and Cyril Crysler had a meeting to form a yacht club. They decided to call it "Dalhousie Yacht Club". It was not until March 1st, 1945 that the club was incorporated as the not for profit entity that we have today.
